Suspiria is an Italian horror movie by Dario Argento
developed in 1977, inspired in the essay "Suspiria de Profundis" by
Thomas De Quincey written in 1845. The film tells the story of Susie Banner, a
young American dancer that moves to a renowned dance academy in Freiburg. Since
the night of her arrival, she feels that something terrifying is hiding behind such
a respected institution. Her classmates behave in a very peculiar way, and in
addition, a series of terrible murders begin to occur in the corridors of the
building where they live in mates. The protagonist in search of truth
encounters the hidden past of the school and its founder, which turns out to be
one of the most powerful and fearsome witches in history.
I love this film because from the beginning it is full
of macabre details that break with the tranquility of the protagonist. Thanks
to the scenes assambled to the music, they create a dreamlike and lurid
atmosphere.
It's a cult movie in the horror genre, as it features
an excellent soundtrack that takes you into the story that seems to be a witche's
tale. The exaggerated and colorful scenes make it a different film, and it is
also one of the best films directed by the famous director Dario Argento.
